Microsoft reveals Auto HDR details.

Microsoft released a video showing the Fallout 4 game running on one of its upcoming consoles, in this case the Xbox Series S, running at 60 fps.

The new consoles are backward compatible with over 1000 games, many with visual and performance enhancements. One such game is now introduced by Microsoft, Fallout 4.

“Many improvements are the result of the custom design of the processor that allows you to play compatible games and take advantage of the CPU, GPU and memory of the new consoles,” it says on the official Xbox website.

They are also said to have developed new methods of doubling frames per second in specific games. Not all games allow the application of these new methods, largely due to the physics and animations used. But Fallout 4 is one of the games where that same implementation was possible, going from 30 fps to 60 fps on Xbox Series S.

In addition, the Auto HDR functionality of the Xbox Series S and Series X is also highlighted, where better image quality is achieved without reducing performance or increasing latency.

Auto HDR automatically adds enhancements for games that were only released on SDR. This feature is completely automatic, with no producers having to do anything to activate it, with Auto HDR enabled on the console’s own hardware.
