Xbox Series S outsells Series X, thinks Phil Spencer • Eurogamer.com

Phil Spencer believes that in the long term, more Xbox Series S units will be sold than the more powerful and expensive Xbox Series X, as price is a very important factor.

In a recent interview with Kotaku, in which he said that he did not need the PlayStation to make the purchase of ZeniMax profitable, the head of the Xbox division commented that the price-quality ratio of the S Series will make it a very desirable Xbox.

“I think we’re going to sell every unit of both that we can deliver at launch,” he begins by telling Spencer about the sales of his next two consoles.

“I think the demand will simply exceed the availability for pre-orders. For us and PlayStation, I think the manufacturing chain will determine the market share, more than anything else.”

“I think across the generation, our expectation would be that price really matters and that you will see the S Series sell more.”

Spencer sees the X Series as a console for the most dedicated and demanding gamers, those who like to keep up with the latest and greatest technology. These players do not care about the price and are looking for the highest quality.

However, he shared that the S Series will even be able to load some games faster as it loads materials with lower resolution.
