IASAÚDE has just announced that today there are 8 new positive cases to report, so RAM now counts 345 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the regional territory.

These are 8 imported cases (4 from the United Kingdom, 2 from the Northern Portugal Reg., 1 from Poland and 1 from France).

It should be noted that one of the imported cases confirmed today refers to a resident, a health professional, who, having left RAM, tested positive at the airport. Having followed the recommendations of the health authorities, no close contacts have been identified in this case.

There are also 15 new situations that are being studied by the health authorities.

IASAÚDE points out that today there are 2 new recovered cases to report, that is, the Region already has 236 recovered cases of COVID-19.

Thus, 109 are active cases, of which 101 are imported cases identified in the context of surveillance activities implemented at the Madeira airport and 8 are cases of local transmission. Of these active cases, 54 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit and 55 in their own accommodation.

As for the COVID-19 detection tests carried out in the Region, IASAÚDE reports that 89,462 harvests have already been carried out to test COVID-19 at the Madeira and Porto Santo airports. In total, the samples processed in the SESARAM Clinical Pathology laboratory amount to 139,678.
