What is it?

The “Support: More Sustainable Buildings” program has an economic endowment of 4.5 million euros and is aimed at owners who want to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Works or material purchases can be reimbursed at 70%, with a limit of up to 7,500 euros.

This support is only for mainland Portugal, leaving aside the Azores and Madeira, which have regional autonomy to define their own sustainability policies.

What are the deadlines?

The application submission deadline begins this Monday (September 7) and runs until the end of December 31, 2021 or until available funds are exhausted.

What is the main condition?

The Government will support small works since the houses were built before 2006.

This support is aimed at individuals, owners of existing and occupied homes. The owners must be identified in the Caderneta Predial Urbana.

What documents and papers do I need to deliver?

In addition to the updated work booklet, the applicant must deliver the housing permit, photographs of the house, with the before and after the intervention and the receipts related to the expense after September 7.

You must complete the online form, which will be available on the Environmental Fund page, you must present your citizen card and certificates of non-debt to the tax authorities and social security.

I also need to give the IBAN number, because the support is done by bank transfer.

How do you know you will receive support?

After submitting all the necessary documentation, the candidate receives confirmation, but the Environmental Fund can still request further clarification. If the application is approved, the interested party is notified of the right to the incentive.

What kind of expenses will this support cover?

  • efficient rings, of a class equal to or greater than “A +”;
  • Thermal insulation, provided that it is made with eco-materials or recycled materials;
  • Systems for heating and / or cooling rooms and domestic hot water (DHW) that use renewable energy, class A + or higher;
  • Thermal insulation, provided that it is made with eco-materials or recycled materials;
  • Heat pump Solar thermal system Boilers and high efficiency biomass stoves);
  • Electric boilers when combined with other systems that use renewable energy (heat pumps and solar panels);
  • Installation of photovoltaic panels and other equipment for the production of renewable energy for self-consumption;
  • Interventions aimed at water efficiency: replacement of equipment with more efficient equipment (bathroom taps, washbasin taps; showers, flush cisterns, flush cisterns with double water inlets (potable and non-potable), flow meters, pressure reducers and flow regulators).

What are the limits of support?

There are two kinds. First, the limit per candidate is 15,000 euros. However, there is also a limit per home that is set at 7,500 euros. In other words, a person with two houses can have a support of 7,500 euros in each one.

But within each category there is also a limit on the contribution of up to 70% of the expenses or a maximum defined by each category.

For example, an owner who buys two efficient class A + windows costs 2,600 euros, but 70% of that amount is 1,820 euros, but the maximum aid for this category is 1,500 euros. Therefore, the rest must be borne by the person.
