It was through a statement that the Regional Health Service (SESARAM) reported, this afternoon, the suspension, starting this Friday, and for a period of 10 days, the suspension of visits to Hospital dos Marmeleiros and Hospital João de Almada, “due to the need to screen professionals and users of these two units”.

The novelty is also the test that is made to the members of the reference family.

In the same note we can read that “during this suspension, contacts with the users’ relatives will be assured by the medical and nursing teams. Visits only after the 6th day and with proof

As of December 14, the rules that apply to visits to patients admitted to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital are also modified. Here, “the daily visit of the family member of reference is only allowed to patients hospitalized for a period greater than 6 days, visits being prohibited until day 6, inclusive.

The exceptions to these measures are the following services:

  • Intensive care service
  • UTIC, UCICT
  • Career unit
  • Neutropenia Unit
  • Intermediate care units
  • Palliative care unit
  • UCINP
  • Pediatrics
  • Midwifery service (pregnant women, delivery room, postpartum women)
  • And patients in end-of-life care.

“In these Services or Units, the specific rules proposed by the Service Directors / Nurse will apply. Managers and validated by the Technical Directions ”.

In addition, “patients in long-term hospitalization / discharge from the clinic and hospitalizations integrated into the NETWORK (São Vicente, Calheta, Santana, Santo António, Hospital João de Almada) will only have one (1) weekly visit from the reference family , by appointment, in conjunction with the nursing team or team responsible in the unit “.

All family members of reference, to visit acute patients, must perform the SARS-CoV-2 test on the 6th day of the user’s hospitalization / before the first visit, repeating weekly for the duration of hospitalization.

To carry out the test, the reference family member, after identification by the nursing team, will be referred by the administrative support of the Service, which will proceed to schedule the family member’s test.
