The municipality of Viseu registered 12 new cases of people infected by the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours. According to data from health authorities, there are now 240 cases reported since the start of the pandemic. In the last 48 hours, 22 people with Covid-19 were detected only in the municipality of Viseu.

In the Viseu region, particularly in the area covered by the Dão Lafões Health Center Group, the infection is in the workforce, with contagious connections in the community and in the workplace.

“We have a big problem with companies. There are cases in various companies, some large and others small, “a public health source admitted to Jornal do Centro. But, the biggest alert, now, is the “repercussion that this can have in homes” because the greatest contagion is in the family.

According to the same source, the work that is being done is to prevent the infection from reaching these institutions, where the most vulnerable population group is found, as happened in the first wave and which caused the death of more than three dozen users. .

This Saturday it was known that there was a case in Penedono, in a school context, a situation that the Mayor announced on social networks and in which he regretted the lack of information from the health authorities.

According to the data collected, in the last week, and until 3:00 p.m. this Saturday, 128 new cases and one death were registered throughout the Viseu district. At this time, and since the beginning of the pandemic, the infection has passed through 1089 people. Viseu, Castro Daire, Cinfães and Sernancelhe have been the most affected municipalities. In recent days there have also been increases in the Lafões region, as a result of contagion in a Vouzela factory; in Tondela, also in a labor context, and also Moimenta da Beira and Aguiar da Beira, which registered the first cases last Thursday.

Portugal has more than 849 new cases of contagion and five more deaths from the new coronavirus, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS). So far, 68,025 people have been infected by covid-19, 849 more than in relation to Friday, a figure similar to that reached in early April, a month after the pandemic entered the country.
