Shaeco, a company from Viana do Castelo, created the “One & Done” shampoo, an ecological product, vegan me cruelty free.

Each “One & Done” shampoo bar, weighing 115 grams, is equivalent, according to the company, to practically three “normal” shampoos of 250 milliliters. “This is basically because when we buy liquid shampoo, we basically buy water with a cleaning agent,” says Shaeco.

“In the development of our solid shampoo, vegan me cruelty free, which lasted about a year, we are looking for a quality product cousin with an equivalent -or better- performance than ‘traditional’ shampoos, both in terms of foam, aroma and cleansing properties’, highlights Vera Maia, one of the brand’s mentors.

Shaeco has managed to increase sales at a monthly rate of 30%, a relevant figure in a recognized market niche, which has internationalization in its strategy.

Around 20% of the brand’s production is already for export and the trend is for a greater growth of this variable in the coming months.

But the immediate future will be marked by more novelties, as Shaeco is developing a solid conditioner, a face and body soap. Also within the ecological concept.

Greener transport

In its internationalization strategy, Shaeco adhered to a more responsible shipping solution with the environment, with the aim of reducing its carbon footprint, also in the logistics and transport chain.

“There are big concerns that take on another dimension when we translate them as children. And that’s why, six months ago, after its debut in the Portuguese cosmetics market, Shaeco got used to emphasizing that a transport truck full of its solid One & Done shampoo is equivalent to about 10 to 15 trucks loaded with shampoo bottles. liquid ”, highlights the company Viana do Castelo.

Shaeco has joined the DHL GoGreen solution, which minimizes and / or avoids polluting gas emissions related to logistics, waste and other environmental impacts throughout the supply chain.

Thus, “the land routes of this ecological shampoo leave a green footprint until it reaches the homes of its customers”, in foreign markets where the brand already operates and, also, in which it will go through its internationalization strategy (France, USA). ., Spain, United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany and United Arab Emirates, among others).

Shaeco is a plastic-free brand that uses minimalist 100% recycled and recyclable packaging (with vegetable-based inks) and natural ingredients in production (such as argan oil and coconut extract), with the aim of saving more aggressions to the planet. Due to the simple fact that solid shampoo contains, on average, 70% less water in its production.

Being compact, it also reduces the impact of transport. Hence a lower consumption of fuel, tire rubber, road tar and, above all, to neutralize the emission of polluting gases (such as carbon dioxide) that cause the greenhouse effect in the atmosphere, the company points out.

This was, in fact, the reason why the multinational logistics company DHL (which operates in more than 220 countries and emits around 30 million tons of carbon dioxide a year) launched the program. Go green – a commitment to environmental sustainability, with the goal of zero emissions on the horizon in 2050.

“Shaeco was born with a great commitment to sustainability. And it made a lot of sense to extend this route to our longest logistics chain, the export chain. That is why we have adhered to a greener shipping solution ”, explains Vera Maia.
