The Santos Fiscal Council gave another negative opinion to Benfica’s proposal and the club president warns of the possibility that Lucas Veríssimo will leave for free in January. The leader assures that it was a “viable negotiation” and that, in this way, Peixe will assume “several risks”.

The Santos Fiscal Council rejected Benfica Veríssimo’s proposal. With the disapproval, justified by the fact that it may compromise “future management”, the Deliberative Council will not even vote on the issue.

Orlando Rollo, president of Peixe, regretted the evolution of this situation and warned of the possibility of the central defender coming out of the club for free in January.

“In January, the athlete (Lucas Veríssimo) will be able to leave for free due to the accumulation of expired accounts. I respect the Supervisory Board, but it was a viable negotiation. Santos will take several risks and I will stay with my hat in my hand asking again [Andrés] Wheel [candidato à presidência]. Without these accounts receivable, there is no forecast of salary payment to athletes in December. Athletes are likely to go free in January. The proposal is not the best, but we have brought an option to save the club for the City Council. In other words, the Board of Directors is exempt from responsibility ”, he said, quoted by the Brazilian press.

The leader of the São Paulo shield also clarified that Benfica has already settled the issues related to salary with the Brazilian, who wants to go to Luz and not to Al Nassr, a club that also wants him.

“The president of Benfica came to Brazil, improved the proposal anticipating a portion in sight. Lucas Veríssimo has already agreed his salary with Benfica. (…) Al Nassr’s proposal is a little better, but the athlete does not want to go for Al-Nassr, “he added.

Remember the value of the Benfica and Al Nassr proposals:

Benfica offers more raw money (6.5 million euros) than Al Nassr (5.4 million euros), but conditions are worse for Brazilians.

The eagles offered the amount divided into five installments, with payments scheduled until August 2025, with one installment per year. Thus, the club would have to make an advance on the money received through a Belgian financial institution, which would generate a commission between 5.2 percent and 5.5 percent of the value. By adding 10 percent of payments to the player and 15 percent to the businessman through intermediation, the Brazilian club would be left with only 3.8 million euros for the central defender.

For his part, Al Nassr would make the payment in two installments, one shortly after signing the contract and the other until January 31, 2021. The club would pay the same 10 percent to the player and 15 percent to the businessman, but there would be no advance payments. In this way, Santos would receive approximately 4.2 million euros.
