In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, which accounts for a quarter of new infections and almost half of deaths, 6,135 new infections have been reported, representing 214,830 cases and 3,748 deaths so far.

The North region registered 4,020 additional new infections in the last 24 hours and, since the beginning of the pandemic, it has already registered 280,156 cases and 4,020 deaths.

In the Central region 2,933 more cases were registered, with 87,095 accumulated infections and 1,711 deaths.

In Alentejo, 651 more cases were reported, totaling 21,372 infections and 505 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The Algarve region has reported 471 new cases, for a total of 14,641 infections and 157 deaths.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira registered 117 new cases, representing 3,195 infections and 31 deaths from covid-19.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 34 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, totaling 3,180 infections and 22 deaths.

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years (the highest between 40 and 49).

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 281,487 men and 342,791 women in Portugal, refer to the DGS data, according to which there are 191 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, since these data are not provided automatically.

Of the total deaths, 5,313 were men and 4,881 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in the elderly over 80 years of age, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed at least 2,107,903 deaths, as a result of more than 98.1 million cases of infection, worldwide, according to today’s balance from the French agency AFP.
