The two victims were part of a group of 13 users of that elderly support unit who were hospitalized in the HDS, and there were still another 9 hospitalized in the Abrantes unit of the Centro Hospitalar do Médio Tejo, in a total of 20 patients still hospitalized .

It is recalled that the 18 users of this care unit for the elderly who are not infected with Covid-19 were transferred this Thursday to a home in Fatima, where they will remain until the outbreak detected in the institution is resolved.

The outbreak in Fonte Serrã is the most serious detected in the region in recent days, but there is another situation that worries the health authorities. This Thursday a new outbreak in Covid-19 was confirmed, this time with 14 positive cases already detected in Quinta do Valmonte – Residence for the Elderly, located in the Besteira area, in Portela das Padeiras, next to the north entrance of Santarém.

The 4 infected employees were sent home, where they are in prophylactic isolation, while the 9 elderly who stayed at home (the other is hospitalized in the HDS), are also isolated from the rest of the users.

It should be noted that the owners of the Fonte Serrã Leisure and Rest Center, in Póvoa de Santarém, and Quinta do Valmonte, in Portela das Padeiras, have family connections.

With these two deaths, the number of deaths from Covid-19 in the Santarém district rises to 42.
