Twelve municipalities in the North region registered an incidence rate of more than 960 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, with Miranda do Douro being the highest values, reveals an official report this Wednesday.
The document of the Northern Regional Health Administration (ARS-N), to which Lusa had access today, reports the evolution of the epidemiological situation between the third week (from 15 to 21) and the last week of December (from 29 December December). Monday, January 4).
In the last 14 days, 12 municipalities in the northern region registered an incidence rate of more than 960 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants and 40 municipalities where an incidence rate of more than 480 new cases was found, the report indicates.
The incidence rate in the North region currently stands at 660 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants every 14 days, according to the document.
Of the 12 municipalities with a rate higher than 960 new cases, three are in the Bragança district: Macedo de Cavaleiros, Miranda do Douro and Mogadouro.
Miranda do Douro is the northern municipality that has the highest incidence rate: 2,620.8 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Barcelos, Esposende, Póvoa de Lanhoso and Vila Verde, in the district of Braga, registered incidence rates of 1,105, 1,185, 1,065 and 982.7, per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively.
In the Oporto district, the municipalities of Póvoa de Varzim and Vila do Conde also registered incidence rates higher than 960 new cases, standing at 1,048 and 1,012, respectively.
The municipalities of Ponte da Barca (in the Viana do Castelo district), Montalegre and Peso da Régua (both in the Vila Real district) also followed these values, with rates set at 1,055, 1,800 and 1,394 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants .
The report also shows that 40 municipalities in the Northern region had incidence rates higher than 480 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Of these 40, 11 are in the municipality of Vila Real: Alijó, Boticas, Chaves, Mondim de Basto, Murça, Ribeira de Pena, Sabrosa, Santa Marta de Penaguião, Valpaços, Vila Pouca de Aguiar and Vila Real.
The Vila Real district is followed by the Porto district, where 10 municipalities also have incidence rates of over 480 new cases: Amarante, Felgueiras, Gondomar, Marco de Canaveses, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila Nova of Gaia.
The municipalities of Amares, Braga, Cabeceiras de Basto, Celorico de Basto, Fafe, Guimarães, Terras de Bouro, Vieira do Minho and Famalicão, in the district of Braga, also exceeded these incidence rate values.

The ARS-N document also reveals that the districts of Aveiro, Braga, Bragança, Porto, Viana do Castelo and Vila Real recorded an increase in the number of new cases of infection.
Of the six districts, Bragança has the highest growth: 79%.
