Today, Pfizer and its German partner, BioNTech, requested an emergency authorization from FDA so that they can begin distributing their vaccine, which could be administered to risk groups from December.
Pfizer did not use public funds from United States in the development of its vaccine, although it later reached an agreement with the federal government to sell 100 million doses for 1.95 billion dollars (1,645 million euros).
The North American pharmaceutical company Moderna used federal funds to develop its vaccine, which presented preliminary results very similar to those of Pfizer.
