The river connection between Seixal and Lisbon will be suspended from Monday, for 45 days, Transtejo said Thursday in a statement.

“As of Monday, October 26, the river passenger transport of Seixal-Cais do Sodré-Seixal is modified due to the need for maritime intervention in the Seixal River Terminal,” the company announced.

Improvement works valued at 425 thousand euros are at stake, with a total area of ​​450 square meters, intended for dredging, new piles, replacement of loading and unloading pontoons to “guarantee continuity and improvement of the provision of the river public transport. passengers ”.

Thus, explains Transtejo, this intervention “is not compatible with the operation of the river, so the company is forced to suspend the mooring” for 45 days.

But if you use the boat every day to get around, you don’t have to worry: the supply of transport to and from Lisbon will continue to be guaranteed with a “special bus transport service” between the Seixal and Cacilhas terminals in Almada. .

“This change aims to minimize the impact of work on the day to day of the approximately 2,400 passengers who currently use the Seixal – Cais do Sodré river connection on board the Transtejo and Soflusa catamarans,” the company explained.

During weekdays, buses will be available from 6:00 am to 11:30 pm and should last 20 to 20 minutes. On Saturdays they will circulate between 7 am and 10 pm and on Sundays and holidays between 8 am and 2 am, with a difference of one hour.

The transport ticket used for the river connection between Seixal and Lisbon is also valid for the road connections and for all the river terminals of Transtejo (Almada and Montijo) and Soflusa, which ensures river transport from Barreiro to Lisbon and vice versa. upside down.
