The restriction of circulation on public roads, starting next Tuesday (January 5), the progressive resumption of classes in the highest risk municipalities, Public Service in teleworking and suspension of home visits, are some of the measures that result of the meeting that took place this morning at Quinta Vigia, to discuss the situation of the covid-19 pandemic in Madeira.

In a statement sent to the press, the executive justifies the decision:

“Despite the measures developed by the regional authorities and the collaboration of the population, to guarantee public health, at the same time that we seek to keep all regional economic activity in operation, thus protecting employment, an increase in the number of of workers. For this reason, it is necessary in the coming days to introduce more measures, with a view to not spreading the virus ”.

The same note also highlights that “vaccination is ongoing, but we all have to maintain the necessary health safety standards, to protect the entire population.”

Here is the list of measurements:

Opening of schools

In the municipalities with the highest incidence of cases: Funchal, Câmara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava, the Government decided that the opening of classes should be progressive, “so that the health authorities can carry out a concentrated and dedicated assessment of the situation.”

Thus, in these municipalities, as the tests are carried out, educational establishments will be opened.

The government foresees that the public / private educational / educational establishments in the municipalities of Funchal, Câmara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava will be prepared for their reopening until January 11, 2021.

The other education / teaching establishments, in the other municipalities, open on the defined calendar, that is, the January 4, 2021.

The test teams will begin their work on the morning of Monday, January 4, in the three identified municipalities, with the aim of monitoring the more than 6 thousand teachers and educational assistants.

Following this decision, extracurricular activities in Funchal, Câmara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava will be suspended until January 10, 2021.

Therefore, all activities carried out in these municipalities are suspended, regardless of the origin of the practitioners.

Until the reopening of the respective educational establishment, a person in charge of education per home, who has to stay at home due to the need to accompany his student (under 12 years old), while attending an educational establishment in the 3 mentioned municipalities, will be justified your absence from work.

Telecommuting

The autonomous public administration will reduce to a minimum, starting tomorrow, the face-to-face work of its employees, opting, as far as possible, for teleworking, until 15 January.

Houses

Home visits will be suspended until January 15.

The Government will continue to test and vaccinate its professionals and users and will continue to limit the mobility of professionals between establishments as much as possible.

Traffic restriction

From 00:00 on January 5, 2021, In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, it is forbidden to circulate on public roads between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., with the exceptions that will be announced tomorrow by Government Resolution.

Opening hours

The bars and restaurants will have a limited schedule until 10:30 p.m., which includes the activity of to carry out and restaurant activity in large areas.

Non-professional sports activities

The guidelines contained in the previous resolutions remain in force until January 18, 2021.

Inspection reinforcement

The authorities will maintain supervision to ensure compliance with the regulations in force throughout the Region.
