António Fernando de Sousa Lemos, better known in the artistic world as Tony Lemos, was one of the founders of Santamaria, the ‘eurodance’ band from Porto, one of the references of the late 90s in Portugal.

Tony Lemos studied Civil Engineering at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia in the undefeated city and was a fan of Futebol Clube do Porto. He shared his life with his partner Marta Silva and was the father of two children, he was expecting his third child.

The musical career began at an early age. Tony Lemos became popular with his sister Marlene in a duo they called ‘Tony and Marlene’, having even released a few albums.

Only in 1998 did Santamaria release his first album, the hit “Eu sei, Tu és”, which marked generations and raised Santamaria to a higher level in dance music in Portugal.

António Lemos, who was in charge of production, keyboards and percussion, was awarded the Golden Globe for ‘Best Group’ with Santamaria in 2001, the year in which Xutos & Pontapés and The Gift fought for the award.

Los Santamarías have a rich discography, always with the presence of Tony Ramos. The latest album is ‘Gold’, from 2015. In social networks the band promised surprises for the coming times.
