The Undersecretary of State for Health and Health, António Lacerda Sales, said this Wednesday that the Government is preparing for the peak of the 19 covid pandemic. “Now, it is certain that we are preparing for the peak and we are preparing our hospital services,” he told reporters when he visited the Covid-19 District Rear Center in Porto.

Despite not making any forecast of when the peak will be, which, according to the Secretary of State, will only be known “after two weeks of incubation in the descending phase,” Lacerda Sales said that the Government has a plan drawn up for the fall / winter. which includes preparing the test capacity and the ventilation capacity. “This is the guarantee that I can give the Portuguese,” he continued.

When asked about the collaboration between the National Health Service and private hospitals to treat patients with covid-19, the government official explained that several transfers have already been made between hospitals, such as the Hospital-Escola da Universidade Fernando Pessoa, in Porto. where there are 43 new infected.

“We also have accession agreements with other private groups, such as Cuf and Lusíadas, and also with the social sector, which is very important,” said Lacerda Sales, concluding that “the entire system is working in an integrated manner – public sector, social and private.
