João Luciano Teixeira Magalhães, 63, was found yesterday dead in the house where he lived in Vila de Gandarela, Celorico de Basto.

João Luciano had left at dawn to go hunting, and when he returned, he would have gone to an area at the back of the room. From what JN learned, the wife was resting in the upper rooms and upon waking up, she would have tried to call her husband at supper time, as she knew nothing about him.

He got in touch with some friends who immediately went to the couple’s house and they were the ones who entered the compartment where João Luciano was and were faced with a scene of terror.

According to JN, witnesses found that the victim’s face was completely disfigured and the skull was destroyed, suggesting that he was struck with a blunt object, probably an ax or something similar. The area of the house where he was found was locked and, inside, there was no trace of any object that could have been used for this crime.

João Luciano was an employee of the Municipality of Celorico de Basto and had the task of sweeping the streets of the town of Gandarela where, from what we have learned, he was seen as a good person and did not get into conflict with anyone. He had two grown children who no longer lived with the couple. GNR was at the scene but the investigation is being carried out by the PJ.
