There are 9 more cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve

The Algarve has 9 new cases of Covid-19, the General Directorate of Health (DGS) has just revealed in its epidemiological bulletin this Saturday, September 5.

The number of accumulated cases since the beginning of the pandemic has risen to 1,159 in the Algarve region.

In neighboring Alentejo, there are only five more cases. In the Alentejo region, 964 cases have been diagnosed since the beginning of the pandemic.

Nationwide, the number of newly infected people rose again. According to the DGS, there are now 486 new infected. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of people who contracted the new coronavirus has risen to 59,943.

As for deaths, there are now five more to mourn, four of them in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region and one in the Center. 1,838 people have died in Portugal since the start of the pandemic, according to DGS.

However, there are already 42,793 people who have recovered from the disease (another 217). As for active cases, there are now 264 more, bringing the total to 15,312.

By regions, Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (230) and the North (200) are the ones that today have the highest number of new cases.

Then there are the regions of Center (4942, plus 39), Algarve (1159, plus 9), Alentejo (964, plus 5), Azores (215) and Madeira (170, plus 4).

In hospitals across the country, 345 people are hospitalized now, 6 more than yesterday. The number of patients in intensive care rose to 41 (+1), according to the DGS bulletin.

In terms of surveillance contacts, there are now 34,201.65 fewer than yesterday.
