This Monday 29 new cases of contagion by the new coronavirus, identified in Madeira, are reported.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the Regional Health Directorate, there are 28 cases of local transmission and 1 imported (Romania) “mostly associated with contacts or contexts of previously identified positive cases. The contacts of one case are still under investigation.”

RAM now represents 921 confirmed cases of covid-19 in the regional territory.

Seven infected children and three military and security professionals

“Seven of the cases identified refer to children who attend educational establishments in the municipalities of Câmara de Lobos, Funchal and Machico. The contingency plan for these establishments is already active,” says the report, which also reports “three cases in adults, who are professionals of the security forces and the military. The contingency plans of these services are active and the epidemiological investigations are in progress “.

14 more recovered cases and 143 under study

Today there are 14 more recovered cases to report. The region now has 662 recovered cases of covid-19.

“There are 257 active cases, of which 47 are imported cases identified in the context of surveillance activities implemented at the Madeira airport and 210 are cases of local transmission. Regarding the residence of active cases, 29 are non-residents. and 228 are residents of RAM “, can be read in the epidemiological report on Monday.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, “22 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, 218 in their own accommodation and currently 17 people are hospitalized, 14 in the Multipurpose Unit and three in the Intensive Care Unit.”

At the hospital dedicated to covid-19, “there are two patients, one identified in the context of the second in-hospital screening test for hospitalized patients and the other after the epidemiological investigation of this case. The investigation is ongoing.”

To date, there have been two deaths associated with this disease.

There are 143 new situations that are currently being studied by the health authorities: eight from the detection operation at Madeira airport and 135 related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 line or by SESARAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
