On November 10, there were 188 municipalities with more than 240 new cases of coronavirus infection per 100,000 inhabitants registered in the previous 14 days, that is, since October 28, the General Directorate of Health (DGS) revealed on Monday, that it had not released municipal-level case data since Oct. 26. Thus, of the 191 municipalities classified as high risk, only three do not exceed the defined threshold.

Paços de Ferreira, with more than 3,968 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days, is, by a wide margin, the municipality where the epidemiological situation is most serious. This corresponds to 2,098 new infections in that period, according to Business calculations, which would raise the accumulated total in the municipality of Pacense to around four thousand infections, since on October 26 this figure was 1,845.

Municipalities considered high risk, which also include municipalities with fewer than 240 cases per 100,000 inhabitants but close to others that exceed this threshold, appear on a list of 191 municipalities subject to specific restrictions, that is, curfews during the week between 23:00 and 05:00 and between 13:00 and 05:00 on weekends. The date that the Government used to assess the risk of the municipalities was exactly November 10 and the previous 14 days. Thus, of the 191 municipalities classified as high risk, only three did not reach the defined threshold: Alcochete, Cadaval and Montijo. In these three municipalities, the Government applied one of the conditions provided, which is the fact that they are located with other municipalities at risk.

In addition to Paços de Ferreira, only Lousada exceeds three thousand cases per 100 thousand inhabitants between October 28 and November 10. The municipality, which had been subject to stricter restrictions at the same time as Paços de Ferreira and Felgueiras, has a value of 3,362.

There are still four more municipalities, three of them in the North, with more than 2,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days: Vizela, Manteigas, Paredes and Peñafiel.

And there are a total of 27 municipalities with over a thousand cases per 100,000 inhabitants, in a list that includes Guimarães, Felgueiras, Matosinhos and Porto.

Lisbon, the most populated municipality in the country, has a value of 576 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
