The worst day of the pandemic. Peak of infections and deaths

Portugal registered another 4656 cases of covid-19 due to contagion in the last 24 hours, surpassing yesterday, which had been the worst day in history in the number of cases of the disease in the country.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate General of Health (DGS) this Friday (October 30), 40 more people died from the new coronavirus. It is the day with the most deaths.

There are 93 more hospitalizations in the last 24 hours, for a total of 1927, and six more people in intensive care.

Portugal also registered a new maximum number of people hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU) since the start of the covid-19 pandemic, with 275 people hospitalized, according to the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

The maximum value of hospitalizations in intensive care was registered on April 7, the day when 271 people were in these hospital units with covid-19.

It was also in April that the highest number of deaths was recorded: 37, according to the DGS bulletin of April 3.
