This morning, the Sanctuary of Fatima limited the entry of pilgrims during the celebrations of September 13, after verifying that the enclosure had reached the estimated maximum capacity in accordance with the regulations imposed to contain the covid-19 pandemic, concluded the SIC News in the place.

This International Anniversary Pilgrimage, which celebrates the fifth “apparition” of Our Lady to the Little Shepherds, is part of the VI Pilgrimage of the Community of the Deaf.

This month’s International Anniversary Pilgrimage is promoted by the Shrine of Fatima, together with its Group of Portuguese Sign Language Interpreters.

The first pilgrimage of the deaf community took place in September 2015 and involved some three dozen deaf people who participated in various initiatives.

The pilgrimage took place “two years after the sanctuary began offering a weekly mass with interpretation in sign language, as a way to integrate and provide the best conditions for people with special needs,” recalls the sanctuary.

The celebrations with the presence of pilgrims resumed at the Sanctuary of Fatima on May 30 and the first international pilgrimage with the faithful took place on June 12 and 13, since the start of the covid-19 pandemic.
