All districts of mainland Portugal are now under yellow alert due to the forecast of rains, sometimes heavy and accompanied by electrical storms, due to a depression, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

According to the IPMA, the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Vila Real, Viseu, Portalegre and Évora will be under yellow warning between 12:00 to 18:00 today and Guarda, Bragança, Castelo Branco de 12:00 to 21:00.

The districts of Leiria and Santarém are under yellow warning from 12:00 to 15:00, Lisbon from 06:00 to 12:00, Setúbal and Beja from 09:00 to 15:00 and Faro between 09:00 to 12:00 .

The yellow warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.

For today, the minimum temperatures range between 14ºC (Braga and Évora) and 18ºC (Lisbon, Sines, Sagres and Faro). The maximum temperatures will range between 19ºC (Guarda) and 28ºC (Coimbra and Braga).

In a statement, the IPMA said that after a sequence of hot and dry days, starting today there will be a change in the meteorological situation with a gradual decrease in temperature and showers that will sometimes be strong and accompanied by thunderstorms and that will affect the entire territory of the continent.

This situation will persist until at least Saturday.
