To avoid a drastic increase in mobility, movements between municipalities for the general population are prohibited next weekend and Easter (March 26 to April 5). And the duty of home collection remains in effect until Easter.

The measure aims to “guarantee that Easter is not a time of travel and meeting, but, on the contrary, another moment of confinement”, justified the President of the Government, António Costa, in the presentation of the misconfiguration plan.

“It is forbidden to move outside the municipality of residence in the period between 8:00 p.m. on Friday and 5:00 a.m. on Monday and, daily, from March 26, without prejudice to the exceptions provided for in article 11 of decree no. . 9/2020, of November 21, which are applicable with the necessary adaptations “, reads the Government diploma that regulates the state of exception.

For the prohibition of circulation between municipalities to be applied during the Easter period, it is necessary to renew the state of emergency.

The prohibition of circulation between the counties of the continent, “except for reasons of health, imperative urgency or other specifically foreseen” was in force during the New Year period and then with general confinement, which came into effect on January 15, has been reiterated every weekend.

According to the government diploma, there are a series of exceptions to the prohibition of movement between municipalities, including travel for the performance of professional functions (as evidenced by a statement issued by the employer or equivalent), for health reasons and for compliance of parental responsibilities.

In addition to this restriction, the thirteenth state of emergency maintains the “general duty of home collection”, in which the main rule is to stay at home, determining that “citizens cannot circulate in public spaces and roads, as well as in spaces and private roads similar to public roads, and must remain in their respective homes, except for authorized trips ”, from going to buy essential goods and services for the practice of physical and sports activities in the open air.

The Government’s misconfiguration plan foresees new reopening phases on April 05, 19 and May 3, but the measures can be revised if Portugal exceeds 120 new cases of contagion by the new coronavirus per day per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days, or even if the SARS-CoV-2 virus transmissibility index (Rt) exceeds 1.
