There are no words to describe the evil of someone who wants to add trouble to a community by setting fire at a time when our city faces so much adversity. That the author is identified and the legally applicable justice is applied ”. This is how the mayor of Funchal reacted, on his Facebook account, to the fire that broke out yesterday afternoon / early at night in Terreiro da Luta, in the parish of Monte, and which mobilized dozens of firefighters from both Funchal Corporations.

Miguel Silva Gouveia took the opportunity to praise the “work, commitment and coordination of the Sapadores Firefighters of Funchal, the Madeira Volunteer Firefighters, the PSP, the GNR and other entities that were on the ground, and the dozens of popular people who they expressed themselves and gifts ”.
The mayor also wanted to leave “a word of solidarity with the people of Monte who, despite the hardships that fortune brings them, maintain an exemplary resilience that should serve as a reference for the entire city of Funchal.”
The fire was extinguished at 9:41 pm and entered the aftermath phase.
