Just this Saturday (at a time to be defined) the Government will announce to the country the measures that will come into force in the next phase of the state of emergency. For now there are only open “scenarios”, said the Prime Minister’s office in a statement sent to newsrooms, after several news items were made public with hypotheses of measures advanced by the President of the Republic to the parties in the hearings they were held on Tuesday and Wednesday. Belém fair.

“This afternoon, the President of the Republic will present to the Government the opinion of the draft Decree. Tomorrow the Assembly of the Republic will meet to speak. And only on Saturday will the Government announce the measures it will adopt in compliance with the Presidential Decree, ”reads a statement sent to the editorial offices by the Prime Minister’s office.

Two weeks ago, the communication strategy was not the best, and that was even assumed by the prime minister, after the press conference lasted until after midnight, giving rise to “misunderstandings” about the current measures.

But the calendar is tight and must be met: on Friday morning the Assembly of the Republic will continue to vote on the decree of the state of emergency (without knowing what measures the government will take), after that, that same Friday, the Government meets with the Council of Ministers, and it is not until the next day, Saturday, that it announces the measures to the country. All because the Council of Ministers can extend for several hours and thus prevent communication from being made late.

In addition, it was necessary, first, to listen to the specialists at the Infarmed headquarters, which happened this morning. “The Government considered that the President of the Republic should be given the opportunity to hold a new meeting with experts, involving all social and political actors, before making new decisions, to take stock of the measures already taken and their impact and in order to promote the best information to all stakeholders, ”the statement read.

Still this Thursday afternoon, the Government will receive from the President of the Republic the decree proposal with the legal guidelines for the state of emergency and will meet with the Council of Ministers to validate that decree. After that, the trial period for the Assembly of the Republic is missing, scheduled for Friday morning.

In the statement, the prime minister’s office also clarifies that, “contrary to what has been reported,” no decisions have yet been made, which would not make sense since the parties and experts had yet to be heard. The news, however, did not report closed measures, but only equal measures, as Marcelo described to the parties during the hearings.

“Obviously, there are several scenarios that are discussed with the experts, but no decisions have been made, so any announcement now is pure speculation,” the statement read.
