“I believe that everyone is aware of the evolution that the situation is having at the international and national level as well, and I believe that it is a situation that requires greater caution at this time,” said the minister, speaking to journalists in Ponta Delgada at the entrance of a meeting of the Governing Council to analyze the covid-19 pandemic.

The head of the Azorean executive stressed that the virus situation “changes all the time, every day”, so “it should not be surprising” that any measure applied in the region “yesterday or the day before yesterday” can be “evaluated, reversed” in virtue of the “evolution of the situation”.

Compared with March and with the appearance of the first cases, the Azores now have, in terms of the Regional Health Service, “better conditions”, both “in terms of equipment and human resources”, to deal with cases of covid -19, he added.

Also at the economic level, a “set of measures” was implemented to mitigate the effects of the pandemic, Vasco Cordeiro said.
