The Government approved, in the Council of Ministers this Thursday, the expansion of the instruments to support the treasury situation of the companies already launched. The launch of new aid to companies was also approved.
According to the statement from the Council of Ministers, the “extension of the Support Program to medium-sized and sole proprietorships without organized accounting” was approved. In addition to this expansion, and “taking into account the specific moment in which we live due to the situation of the pandemic and the measures necessary to contain it,” the Government approved the launch of new aid to companies.
“Direct support will be provided in the form of subsidies to cover the cost of non-residential rents for micro, small and medium-sized companies that operate in sectors particularly affected by the exceptional measures approved in the context of the Covid-19 disease pandemic.” .
It also envisages the creation of “direct support to large companies, in the form of credit guaranteed by the State, with the possibility of partial conversion into non-repayable loans by maintaining jobs, in order to guarantee immediate liquidity support. “. short-term operational efficiency and financial health, as well as direct support for non-residential leasing. ”
The Executive also approved the decree-law “that facilitates, in the 1st semester of 2021, the fulfillment of the tax obligations regarding VAT, as a way to sustain and reinforce the liquidity of companies.” Companies with a billing drop of at least 25% compared to the same period of the previous year, may make payments in three or six monthly installments, without interest.
The details of the measures will be presented this Thursday afternoon by the Minister of Economy, Pedro Siza Vieira, in a conference that will take place at 5:00 p.m. at the Palácio da Ajuda.
