The government creates a digital driver’s license (and more)

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digitization. Many of the procedures that we know and use have been moving online and there are some more news.

The Government is going to create the digital driver’s license, so it is not necessary for drivers to have their license card. But there are more news.

Drivers will no longer be required to have their driver's license and paper vehicle documents on their license.  The letter will change its graphics and will have a digital version. Vehicle documents, such as the ownership registration, insurance certificate and inspection form, will also be available on a mobile platform..
For everything to work in this digital format, law enforcement officers must also have a team capable of verifying and verifying documents presented by drivers.  If the agents do not have such electronic means of reading, the driver must present the documents in physical format at the police station, within a period of five days.

The JN says there will be changes to the Highway Code and fines will be high for violators.  OR The use of a mobile phone while driving will be equated to driving under the influence of alcohol., with the fine doubled to € 250 and € 1,250.  Anyone caught runs the risk of losing three points on the driver's license.
The amendment to the Highway Code also includes a ban on electric scooters that are fast to ride on bike lanes.
The application id.gov.pt of the Public Administration allows you to store and consult your cards (for example, citizen card, driver's license, ADSE card) anytime and anywhere using the digital mobile key.  In addition to this application, AMA - Agency for Administrative Modernization, IP, offers other very interesting applications such as the MyADSE application, MySNS, Gov Authentication, among others.
