Placement of more efficient windows, thermal insulation with reused materials, heating / cooling systems for rooms or hot water with a renewable source, installation of electric boilers or photovoltaic panels: these are some of the interventions supported by the Government, as of December 7 September, in homes prior to 2006. The information, advanced by Rádio Renascença, states that the Environmental Fund program aims to “improve the energy efficiency of homes and promote economic activity”.

For the reimbursement of these small works, reimbursed by 70% and with a maximum chargeable value of 7,500 euros per owner, the Government provides a package of € 4.5M.

According to the Minister of the Environment, this “is a very simple way for people to have a double profit: direct support for the works they carry out and support that ends up translating into a lower electricity or gas bill. And also a public gain because we really have to be more efficient in the energy we consume in the country and that is an objective of the Government ”, highlighted José Matos Fernandes, quoted by RR.

The support is directed, explains the official, to the “housing fractions” built before 2006. “We are not necessarily talking about old houses, a 14-year-old house can be and will surely be in excellent condition, but we are talking about a one park built of approximately three million fractions that was not built with this concern for energy efficiency ”, says Matos Fernandes.

As of this Wednesday, the information on this support can be consulted on the website of the Environmental Fund. Expresso has already contacted the Ministry of the Environment to obtain more information about the program.
