The Government announced this Thursday the creation of new support for the companies most affected by the covid-19 pandemic. In addition to the review of support for progressive recovery, the creation of the Apoiar.pt program is also planned, aimed at micro and small enterprises in the commerce and services sectors, and the creation of new lines of credit. In total, the new support will cost 1,550 million euros, revealed the Minister of Economy, Pedro Siza Vieira.

One of the new lines of credit is aimed at companies that provide support for cultural, festive, corporate, sports activities, seminars, shows, among others. “We are thinking of companies that set up stands at exhibitions and fairs, companies that set up lighting, sound and audiovisual equipment”, explained the minister, “which currently have very important breaks in activity.”

For these companies, a line of credit will be opened, in which 20% of the value of the credit will be converted into a non-refundable subsidy, “if the jobs are maintained at the end of 2021.” In addition to this line, another will be created for “industrial companies with a high volume of export business.” The credit line will have up to 750 million euros, “in which 20% of the credit amount may also be converted into a non-refundable grant.”

The amount of the credit per company will be determined based on the number of jobs. Both will be available “soon”, assured Pedro Siza Vieira. The costs of new measures will be borne by European funds.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total injection of liquidity in companies amounts to 20,000 million euros, revealed the Minister of Economy. The amount includes measures such as simplified dismissal, the different open lines of credit, support for progressive recovery and bank default.
