A motorist tried to run over the military personnel of the Sesimbra GNR during a road inspection operation, TVI confirmed to a source from the authorities. The man will not have a legal license to drive.

The hit-and-run attempt occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Almoinha, Sesimbra, and the driver tried to escape when the military told him to stop, who cut the road to stop him.

The man ended up trying to run over a soldier who was next to the GNR car, who was the commander of the GNR post in Sesimbra. The victim was not injured but the suspect escaped.

After trying to run over the commander, he followed him at high speed, heading towards two soldiers on motorcycles who were trying to close an exit that prevented him from moving forward, trying to run them over as well. One of these soldiers ended up firing two shots into the air with live ammunition.

The suspect will be identified and will now be notified to appear before the Public Ministry. If it fails, an arrest warrant will be issued. TVI knows that he has a criminal record and has been the subject of several arrest warrants.
