The president of the Porto Historic Zone Bars Association believes that more bars will appear to advance to the courts to keep the doors open until later. “This information and this decision that the court accepted the precautionary measure may open doors for others to be placed, but we continue to think that it should not be there, but rather through negotiation,” he says.
António Fonseca says that even many spaces are already thinking about advancing towards justice: “there are discos and companies analyzing the situation.”
The president of the Association of Bars of the Historic Area of Porto guarantees that everything could be avoided if the General Directorate of Health were more open to dialogue with the sector, which causes “instability” and “insecurity in workers who do not know if they will have to work or not. “
António Fonseca believes that a precedent has been set, even if the government challenges the decision of the Lisbon administrative and fiscal court.
“Although this precautionary measure has no effect, the mere fact that it existed proves that this market, this sector, is trying to move through a legal route,” he concludes.
Along the same lines, the president of the National Association of Clubs, José Gouveia, says he is surprised by the court’s decision and hopes to know if this case “could generate certain jurisprudence in relation to the others.”
José Gouveia also wants to see if this type of precautionary measures will take effect during the state of contingency that begins on September 15 throughout the country.
