Nigeria’s qualification for the next edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), to be played in Cameroon in January and February 2022 (exact dates yet to be announced by the African Football Confederation), poses a serious problem for FC Porto and should even led SAD to invest in hiring a left-back.

Zaidu’s absence from this critical period on the European calendar is practically acquired due to the player’s growing influence on the Nigerian national team, a chronic candidate for the African title.

The 33rd edition of the CAN was initially going to begin on January 9 and end on February 6, 2021, but it happened at the beginning of 2022. A change forced by the advance of the Covid-19 pandemic that supposed the postponement of the games of the qualifying round.

In this case, it is a huge headache for many European clubs that have African internationals in their ranks, because most of the time the selected players join the stages of the respective teams right after the New Year.
