There are no predictions yet about the public’s return to football stadiums. Graça Freitas, general director of Health, said Wednesday that there are other priorities, and the country will now focus on the start of the school year, scheduled for next week.

Graça Freitas was asked about stadiums or opening nightclubs, saying that in the near future an increase in contacts is expected through movements to schools, so other activities will have to wait.

«This virus has not yet reached a year among us, we do not know how it will behave throughout social cycles. Now that we are on a special holiday cycle, we have to live a normal life. This mobility, with the start of the public school year, generates more contacts, more cases and an increase in cases, as in Europe. It is part of the cycle of our social life. As a precaution, the government had already made the decision to place the country in Contigency. We must be careful with the population movements that arrive there and the opening of the school year in the public system. It will mobilize almost 1.2 million students, 120 thousand teachers, a huge number of people who will be displaced ”, he recalled.

“Be careful that we are not now trying other measures that can generate more contacts. We have to be cautious and do other activities gradually as we stabilize some. For what will happen in and around schools,

we have to consider the public in stadiums and the opening of nightclubs in this broader framework, and it certainly will not be in the near future. There is no forecast, you have to see the movement of people, which is not a unique phenomenon, it is repeated every day. And it has a great impact on the number of contacts each person will have in the coming weeks, ”added Graça Freitas.
