Luís Filipe Vieira and Orlando Rollo, president of the Santos Management Committee, reached an agreement for the transfer of Lucas Veríssimo. The president of the incarnated ones sealed the agreement in Brazil and now it is necessary that the Plenary of the Deliberative Council of the São Paulo club be summoned to an extraordinary meeting and approve the operation. This should happen on Monday.

The eagle leader traveled to São Paulo on Tuesday night to close the deal. And from there he returns to Portugal with the firm conviction that Lucas Veríssimo will be a Benfica player from January, with a five-year contract. Everything is going well with the Chairman of the Steering Committee, who will be in office until December 12 after improving the offer.

The reds are already available to advance part of the 6.5 million euros already in January, when in the first offer the first of the five payments would only be made in January 2021. The proposal allows Santos, who has 85 per cent to spend (Lucas Veríssimo has the remaining 15), have fresh money to pay off immediate debts, including past due wages. Orlando Rollo, in the first plenary session of the Deliberative Council that did not accept Benfica’s first offer, dramatized and warned councilors that the club was in danger of closing doors. With part of the 6.5 million euros, Santos also avoids having to resort to a Belgian financial institution to advance all the money against the payment of 15 percent (975 thousand euros) of the total financial operation.

The Deliberative Council is now waiting to receive the documentation from Benfica to convene the Plenary. The Management Committee says that everything will be resolved by the end of the month.
