Cristiano Ronaldo is among the 11 nominated by FIFA for the award for the best player of the year. Thiago Alcântara, Kevin De Bruyne, Robert Lewandowski, Sadio Mané, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Sergio Ramos, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk complete the batch of candidates.

The public vote will run until December 9, and FIFA will subsequently announce the three finalists for the award. The winner will be announced on December 17th.
