João Almeida finished the 15th stage of the Tour of Italy in fourth place. The Portuguese rider was unable to respond to an attack in the last 10 kilometers from Tao Geoghegan Hart (who won the stage), Kelderman and Hindley and was 37 seconds behind the winner.
However, João Almeida managed to keep the pink jersey during the last week of the Tour of Italy. Portuguese Deceunick Quick-Step lost 41 seconds, but remains ahead of Dutch Wilco Kelderman for 15 seconds.
