César Peixoto is no longer the Moreirense coach and, therefore, he no longer guides this morning’s training, the Moreira de Cónegos club said a few minutes ago, in a statement released on social networks.

The coach resigned, interrupting on his own initiative a connection started just seven games ago (three wins, two draws and two losses), after having led the Minho club to the knockout stages of the Portuguese Cup, something that did not happen since then. Several years, and having beaten Santa Clara on the last day of the League, leaving the club in 7th place, three points behind 6th place, Paços de Ferreira, and four points above the waterline.

At the base of the surprising decision to put an end to his time at Moreirense on the eve of the match against FC Porto, you know A BOLA, was the attempt by those in charge of the club to interfere in the technical and strategic options of the coach.

Several other coaches who had been at the club chaired by Vítor Magalhães for many years, had already complained in a veiled way, that it had seven coaches only in the last four seasons: Manuel Machado, Sérgio Vieira, Petit, Ivo Vieira, Vítor Campelos, Ricardo Soares and, finally, César Peixoto.

In fact, this season, César Peixoto was already the second manager of Moreirense, having succeeded Ricardo Soares on November 10.

Tomorrow at Dragão, it will be Leandro Mendes, a local coach, who will guide the Minho team.
