The Autonomous Region of Madeira will receive around 232 million euros. The Azores, in turn, will receive around 301.8 million euros in 2021, according to the preliminary version of OE2021, cited by Lusa.

Of the total amount, 185,808,250 euros will be transferred under the terms of article 48 (budgetary transfers) of the Tax Law of the Autonomous Communities and 46,524,062 euros under the terms of article 49 (cohesion fund of the outermost regions) of the same law.

As was already foreseen in this year’s Budget for the new Madeira Central Hospital, the Government ensures the co-financing of 50% of the “construction, inspection of the contract and acquisition of medical and hospital equipment” of the infrastructure.

The construction work for the new Madeira Central Hospital is estimated at around 340 million euros.

The preliminary version of OE2021 also foresees that the Autonomous Region of Madeira may agree with the bank “new loans to finance the new Central Hospital of Madeira, which do not involve an increase in net debt above 158,700,700 euros.”

On the other hand, the Government intends to maintain the reinforcement of the means of extinguishing fires, in cooperation with the Regional Government of Madeira, “including the use of aerial means and support to the affected populations.”

In 2021 they will also continue, as was already planned for this year, “the necessary actions to ensure the replacement of submarine cable interconnections between the continent and the Autonomous Communities.
