RTP Memória’s #EstudoEmCasa program classes will return in the next school year and will include secondary education, but only on the ‘online’ platform, it was announced this Wednesday.
The information was presented this Wednesday by the Minister of Education and the president of RTP, in a joint press conference at the headquarters of the public broadcaster, in Lisbon.
In the first month of the school year, starting on September 14, students will be able to attend the classes broadcast during the 3rd period in RTP Memória, to accompany the work of consolidation of learning that will be carried out in the schools. The new classes begin airing on the channel on October 19.
In the first months of the #EstudoEmCasa, created by the Ministry of Education in partnership with RTP in the context of the covid-19 pandemic, only basic education classes were registered, from 1st to 9th grade. Starting this year, RTP studies will also start receiving secondary school teachers, but for now these classes will only be available on the ‘online’ platform of RTP Play.
For the remaining levels of education, classes can be followed at RTP Memória, as in the third year.
Another novelty is the separation of the contents of 1st and 2nd year, which last year had joint classes, an amendment that the Minister of Education considered important, since “1st year children have other vicissitudes and needs”.
Next year there will also be a new block of non-curricular content, dedicated to the organization of autonomous work, which the three months of teaching turned out to be, in the Minister’s opinion, so important.
#EstudoEmCasa was launched on April 20, at a time when schools were closed and students had classes online, with the aim of serving as a complementary resource and helping to minimize the difficulties of many students accessing the distance education.
However, RTP’s proposal is that this project goes beyond the context of the pandemic and that educational contents become permanent in the programming.
“What is created in an emergency situation, but has permanent merits, deserves to be continued and deserves to be a constant part of RTP’s offer”, stressed the president of the station, Gonçalo Reis.
Also for the Minister of Education, this tool is an asset, which goes beyond the current context of the covid-19 pandemic and distance education and will serve, above all, to “help face-to-face education.”
“It is important that a set of educational resources be produced more and more, that they can be broadcast on television, that they can be multiplatform, and what we are doing here is just that, that #EstudoEmCasa endures over time”, underlined the minister.
Tiago Brandão Rodrigues recognized, however, that, since they are not a “resource” solution, these classes are part of a solution “that follows the teaching-learning course” and, therefore, can be used in blended learning or distance. , although face-to-face should be the norm whenever possible.
The #EstudoEmCasa grid in RTP Memória is not yet known, which next year will also have transmission of some blocks in RTP Internacional, but basic education classes should occupy the channel between 09:00 and 16:30.
