Swiss protest against containment measures

Switzerland, which registered more than 1,500 deaths and approximately 30,000 infected people, began to ease containment measures by authorizing the opening of hairdressers and florists two weeks ago.

Starting Monday, schools, restaurants, museums and bookstores will follow suit, but with specific conditions. Meetings with more than five people are still prohibited.

The protesters, who carried signs saying, among others, “without confinement measures, Sweden has the same results as Switzerland”, consider that the current restrictions violate their fundamental rights, reason why the forces today booed police officers who tried to control the protests.

Between 100 and 200 people also joined in Zurich and around 80 in Saint-Gallen, in protest actions different from those in Bern.

Switzerland entered confinement in mid-March, ordering the closure of schools and businesses deemed nonessential.
