The president of the Union of Labor Inspectors denounced today that the employees of the Guimarães delegation of ACT “paid out of pocket” for the covid-19 tests, which they did after having contacted an infected colleague.

“ACT management [Autoridade para as Condições do Trabalho] says six employees have already done the tests and it’s true. But he forgot to say that he was paid out of pocket. The employees were naturally concerned and went off on their own to take the tests, because ACT didn’t want to know, ”said Carla Cardoso.

He added that it was only Wednesday night that the health authority contacted the employees to carry out the tests.

A worker from the Guimarães delegation of ACT tested positive for COVID-19 and another 10 were placed in prophylactic isolation.

On Thursday, to Lusa, ACT said that six of the 10 workers have already been tested and that the facilities, furniture and equipment have been disinfected.

Carla Cardoso said that the facilities suffered a “homemade” disinfection, carried out by the cleaning employees.

He added that ACT does not provide masks for on-premises service.

“We are inspecting whether or not companies provide personal protective equipment to their workers and this is what is inside our house,” added the union member.

Lusa tried to listen to ACT today, but it was not possible yet.

On Thursday ACT explained that it learned, on September 15, that a worker affected by the Centro Local do Ave (Guimarães) had been in close contact with a person infected with covid-19.

He assured that all the measures provided for in his contingency plan were activated “immediately”, namely, the permanence of the affected employee at home and the follow-up of close contacts, contacting the SNS24 Line, as a preventive measure.

On Sunday, ACT learned that the worker had tested positive.

“That same day, the director of the Local Center gave an indication to all workers assigned to Local Local Ave to contact the SNS24 Contact Center Line. Contacts made with health authorities resulted in the prophylactic isolation of 10 workers, “said ACT.

He added that six of the 10 employees had already been “tested”, with a negative result.

ACT ensures that the contingency plan “was and will continue to be strictly adhered to,” that is, in regards to the provision of personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, visors, and alcohol-based antiseptic solution.
