The 3,115 members who participated in the General Assembly of Sporting this Saturday, scheduled to vote on the 2019/20 Annual Report and Accounts for the 2020/21 season, disapproved by a large majority of the figures presented by the Board of Directors.
Against the budget for 2020/21 they voted 69.19 percentage of members participating in the electoral act. 30.81% voted in favor. A similar result in relation to the 2019/20 Annual Report, which registered the disapproval of 67.22 percentage of associates. 32.78% voted in favor.

After the results announced by Rogério Alves, at a press conference, the Board of Directors headed by Frederico Varandas issued a statement, in which he regrets the result of the vote and admits to promoting some changes in the Budget for the 2020/21 season.

The Board of Directors of Sporting Clube de Portugal expresses its gratitude to the 3,115 members of the Club who, in the context of a pandemic, came to exercise their right to vote.
Given the disapproval, by the Members, of the Report and Accounts of the previous year and of the Budget for the year 2020/2021, we clarify the following:
In due course, we will resubmit the documents to the General Shareholders’ Meeting;
In fact, the approval of these documents is important in the daily budget management and in the relationship with third parties, that is, with financial institutions and with the State. As we have done so far, we will do everything possible so that there are no more dire consequences for the Club in this already difficult period. We are confident and determined that, despite all the difficulties, we will succeed;
The 2019/2020 Report and Accounts, of course, will not undergo any changes;
We will consider introducing changes in the Budget, adjusting it to the reality that has been known since the beginning of the year.
Finally, we would like to thank the professionalism and integrity of the Sporting CP employees who contributed as usual to the AG. To all our thanks.
