Sporting and FC Porto drew (2-2), this Saturday at the Alvalade Stadium, on the fourth day of the League, in a first classic of the season marked by many debuts, strong emotions and uncertainty until the end.

After the adjustments in the transfer market and the pause for the commitments of the teams, the expectation fell on the news that the duel between lions and dragons could bring.

Thus, Sporting by the hand of Rúben Amorim entered with six new faces compared to last season -Adán, Feddal, Porro, Pedro Gonçalves, João Palhinha and Nuno Santos-, while FC Porto, by Sérgio Conceição, showed more restrained and bet at first only on Zaidu reinforcement.

The match had not yet completed a minute and Adán was already shining with a difficult defense to stop a treacherous free kick from Sérgio Oliveira. The national champions showed great intensity and personality in the opening minutes, pushing the hosts to their defense, but it was precisely against this current that Sporting ended up opening the scoring.

After seeing Marchesín deny Matheus Nunes, the Leon team even went ahead on the next play, at eight minutes, with Nuno Santos submitting the first and hard to the far post, without the Porto goalkeeper being able to dodge the shot. The goal was a balm of tranquility for the young lions, who began to show a very practical and objective football in quick outings to attack.

However, FC Porto did not break down in the face of adversity and both Uribe and Luís Díaz were close to scoring the goal that would only arrive in the 25th minute. At Zaidu’s perfect center, Uribe went up with a left-footed shot in the middle of the area , signing the tie with a showy goal.

Equality calmed the pace of the match a bit, which would once again reach a peak in the interval. First, with the 2-1 of FC Porto, from Corona, which took advantage of the surplus of an individual bid by Luís Díaz and showed art and ingenuity to deceive Adán.

Then, on the sales, the referee Luís Godinho penalized Pedro Gonçalves and sent Zaidu off, with a second yellow, but reversed the decisions, alerted by the VAR, after seeing the television images next to the field.

After this decision, the Leonese coach, Rúben Amorim, was expelled from the bench due to the protests, and then the half-time whistle appeared.

In advantage, FC Porto proved to be fresher and more competent in space management and did not allow Sporting as much progress as it had allowed during the first half. Sporting was now a less dangerous team, despite apparently having more ball possession, only inconsequential and harmless.

From the bench, Rúben Amorim suffered and shouted to the field without giving any signs of response. However, the best response came in the 56th minute with the arrival of Vietto, who would be decisive for the challenge, since it was the Argentine striker who scored the equalizer in the 87th minute, after an insistent play from Leo’s attack.

The classic also had room for the debut of Toni Martínez, Felipe Anderson and Nanu among the dragons, as well as João Mário for Sporting. In the final minutes, the game was completely broken and it could have fallen in favor of either team, but balance ended up being the dominant note and prevailed precisely in the final tie.

With this result, Sporting and FC Porto add seven points after four games, although the lions have a delayed match. Facing the First League, the leader Benfica continues, with nine points, which can extend the advantage this Sunday in the match with Rio Ave.
