The Monteros de La Cabra association, which was this weekend at Quinta da Torre Bela, in Azambuja, will have carried out at least 17 hunts in Portugal between October 2018 and February 2019, during the high season of the venatorio calendar, killing, in total, 1187 animals, to which are added the 540 this weekend. To these events are added eight hunts in Spain in the same period. The information is in “Todo Montería”, a Spanish publication dedicated to hunting. The group’s calendar is exhaustive: there are dates, places, number of hunters involved and species to hunt.

The first hunt of the Spanish “season” in Portugal was in the Herdade da Coutada de Frades tourist hunting area, in Moura, Beja, on October 5. It involved 38 hunters and aimed to hunt 110 deer and wild boar, 50 of which were male. The next day, the group went to Herdade da Maúcha da Rainha, in Caldas da Rainha, to hunt at least 85 of these animals and another “20/30 pigs,” they wrote.
