ORa 12-year-old girl gave birth at her home, in Cantabria, in the north of Spain, last Sunday. The family says they had no idea the girl was pregnant, according to Spanish El Mail. Both the child and the baby are fine.
The emergency medical team called to the residence arrived in time to assist the delivery. The girl and the newborn were stabilized and transferred to the University Hospital Marked of Valdecilla.
The same publication indicates that the baby was born at the end of the pregnancy, but remains in the Neonatology, although he is “in perfect state” of health.
The mother has already been discharged from the hospital and is being followed by the Protection under Cantabria.
Since the child completed the pregnancy (nine months), the pregnancy occurred at the beginning of pandemic, when people started staying home more. The family, however, say they did not know that the girl was pregnant.
Upon arriving at the hospital, unchained social services and it was revealed that the girl was already in the protection minors of the regional government. The case is being investigated by the Spanish Public Ministry.
