This Thursday, Sonae shareholders approved the distribution of 92.6 million euros in dividends, corresponding to 4.63 illiquid cents per share, proposed by the management led by Cláudia Azevedo. At the general meeting, the shareholders of the holding company decided to remunerate capital, despite the recommendations of several entities that the distribution of dividends from the companies should be suspended due to the covid-19 pandemic.

After meeting with the President of the Republic, the CEO of Sonae, Cláudia Azevedo, indicated that the issue of dividends was a decision of the shareholders.

Remember, Sonae’s management announced on March 18 that it would propose to the General Assembly a dividend of 4.63 cents per share on account of 2019 results, which corresponds to an increase of 5% compared to 4.41 cents distributed on last year.

The dividend now approved is equivalent to a dividend yield of 5.1% compared to the closing price as of December 31, 2019 and a payment ratio of 43% of the consolidated direct result attributable to Sonae shareholders.

The dividend payment will be available on May 15 and “the shares will be traded without the right to a dividend from the second previous business day (May 13, 2020) until the payment day, inclusive.”
