SOL poll shows Ventura ahead of Ana Gomes

If there was never any doubt that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has a huge extended treadmill to continue in Belém after the presidential elections at the beginning of next year, now there are also few who will hardly match the percentage with which Mário Soares was re-elected in 1991.

In a survey especially dedicated to the upcoming presidential elections held by SOL_pela Eurosondagem with the sponsorship of the Montepio Mutual Association, Marcelo, with 61% of the Portuguese voting intentions, is very far from the 70% barrier crossed by Mário Soares in the elections in which the main opponent Basílio Horta, at the time of the CDS.

As for the candidates who have already publicly confirmed their candidacy, the surprise is the second place now occupied by Chega’s leader, André Ventura (11%), who appears with a slight advantage over the socialist Ana Gomes (10%), relegating to blocker Marisa. Matías (8.5%) for fourth place. The PCP candidate, João Ferreira (with 5.5%), is in fifth position, but with a clear advantage over Tiago Mayan Gonçalves, of the Liberal Initiative, who remains expressionless in almost the entire country (1%) and it only manages to slightly strengthen its electoral base in the Porto Metropolitan Area.

If Marcelo breaks into the Azores and reveals greater weaknesses in the south and in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, this is where André Ventura, Ana Gomes and Marisa Matias obtain better records.

As a curiosity, it should be noted that, in terms of age groups, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa achieves a greater penetration among the oldest and the youngest.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa – 61%
André Ventura – 11%
Ana Gomes – 10%
Marisa Matias – 8.5%
João Ferreira – 5.5%
Tiago Mayan Gonçalves – 1%
