As of this Wednesday, a declaration of prophylactic isolation can be requested through the SNS 24 line, a measure approved by the Council of Ministers, last weekend, and published this morning in the Diário da República.
The information was confirmed this afternoon during the daily press conference of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) on the epidemiological bulletin Covid-19 in Portugal.

With this measure, as explained by Luís Goes Pinheiro, president of the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS), whenever there is a risk situation, the SNS 24 may issue a provisional declaration of prophylactic isolation that justifies the absence of the place of job. of the user and remain at home until the public health services contact him. Whoever uses this service will receive, by SMS or email, a code that will give them access to this document.
“This means that, for the employer or any entity that requires the physical presence of the person, this statement can serve to justify the need to stay at home,” explains Goes Pinheiro, who also adds that the information on the user’s status is will insert into the Trace Covid detection system.
However, for the purposes of medical discharge, the user must demonstrate that they cannot be at home teleworking. That is, if the exercise of the user’s professional activity is “impossible” then proof is necessary in this regard. “This impossibility will have to be demonstrated by the employer, and this test does not have to be done before the SNS 24, as is evident, but before the Social Security”, he explains.
Therefore, SNS 24 only proves that the person has to be at home, and then it is still necessary for the employer to prove that that person cannot be telecommuting to have access to the loss due. Otherwise, it is in isolation but telecommuting.
